Our conversation workshops are here!
A while ago we did a survey on conversation workshops. Taking into consideration the results gathered, the scheduling of our classes, our availability, and other considerations, we created our conversation workshops.
What are conversation workshops? These are opportunities to practice your target language with other adults.
Why have conversation workshops? One of the things we noticed with our learners is that for many, the only time they practice their new language is during classes. As some learners only have one class per week, this special opportunity for additional practice, contributes significantly to the rate of progress.
The other thing is that, for some, there is an element of shyness that prevents them from practicing with people around them; co-workers, friends, or in the places they visit. With these workshops, no one will be judged because all the participants are in the same situation.
It is important to make the distinction; conversation workshops are not language courses. There will be no presentation of structures, thematic conversational activities, specific vocabulary, or any other elements that you normally find in our courses. For 90 minutes, you will be with other adults, and talk about various topics. All workshops are on Zoom.
We offer workshops in English, French, and Spanish. For all three languages, you have beginner and intermediate levels. If you take lessons with us, you know your level. Otherwise, you can take your placement test. Register here.
These workshops take place once a week and the number of participants is limited to eight (8) to maximize everyone's talk time. Each workshop costs $ 10 per session. A facilitator will be present and will bring up a variety of topics to foster conversation.
Here is the schedule for these workshops:
Wednesday is "Spanish" day. Beginners are from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. while intermediates are from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
On Thursday, it is the turn of French. Beginners are from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. while intermediates are from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Finally, Friday is reserved for English. Beginners are from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. while intermediates are from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The first workshops will start the week of September 6, 2021. And as mentioned earlier, places are limited to eight participants. So, if you are interested, do not hesitate to sign up.
